Project Implementation & Execution

  • For complex projects you need someone to manage your data with experience and a long-term view for project delivery, not someone who just completes tasks as assigned. Whether you’re just getting started or need someone to fly in and fix issues on in-progress work, I have the technical expertise and industry knowledge to get your project on track.

The risks of not having experienced data management for complex projects are many. A consultant might survey the wrong design for a sensitive species that can only be surveyed for during a specific time of year, setting the project’s timeline back significantly. Conflicts that could have been anticipated in design aren’t discovered until the EPC is out building the project. Investing in quality spatial data management up front is key to keeping projects on schedule and budget.

    •  I provided both planning and execution on a multi-year 3.5-gigawatt project from early design into construction. I closely collaborated the Owner’s GIS team from day one and met with their subcontractors to plan for how data should be exchanged. We sent out weekly updates to ensure communication was consistent and followed metadata standards that were detailed enough to document project changes but not so stringent that tight timelines would leave them unused. This resulted in smooth data exchange and removed bottle necks because the entire project team could access current data when they needed it. When data exchange was not smooth it was quickly caught and corrected due to dedicated geospatial data management. Without these systems in place and a GIS expert being on the project team things like misaligned spatial files or missing stakeholder on data communications would have resulted in avoidable re-design and schedule delays.

    • A dedicated GIS lead with over a decade of experience managing complex, large scale projects across teams and companies.

    • A “clean up crew” to sort though existing messy data and move forward to keep projects on track.

    • A collaborator to QC design, survey, and access concerns to flag potential problems before they become issues

    • Schemas, geodatabases, and scripts to save time on redundant QC and reporting tasks.

    • Short-term expertise for overflow work when your team is at capacity.
